Hello, I am Sophie
I work as a project manager, am a parent, and reside as an expat in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
A few years ago, I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually evolved into a new chapter of life living abroad.
How It Began
Moving to Netherlands wasn’t part of the long-term plan. Like many expat relocations, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far greater.
The initial months were intense — new processes, new routines, new expectations. Daily tasks seemed more complicated than they needed to be.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and plenty of learning on the job. Gradually, routines took shape. We found places that fit our needs, connected with other families, and began creating something that felt steady.
Why I Built Ripple Crest Atlas
Most information online came from corporate relocation guides or shallow tourism material. What was missing was an honest, everyday family viewpoint.
This site exists to close that gap — practical guidance grounded in real life in Netherlands.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site IS:
- Hands-on insights from living in Netherlands
- Centered on family life and day-to-day realities
- Updated whenever a real change occurs
This site ISN'T:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- Not a sponsored review platform
- Not a generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our time in Netherlands goes on, and so does the learning process. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll continue documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Amsterdam or anywhere in Netherlands, don’t hesitate to reach out.
Cheers,
Sophie
